Why exam portals reject photos
Exam portals check three things: the file size, the pixel dimensions, and the format. A photo straight from a phone camera fails on all three — a 48-megapixel camera produces a file of 10 MB or more, while the form wants 50 KB.
Phones do compress photos, but they compress for storage, not for a 50 KB upload limit. And iPhones save in HEIC, which most portals reject outright because their software cannot read it.
That is what this tool fixes: it converts to JPG, crops to the shape your form specifies, and lands the file just under your size limit rather than far below it — so you keep as much clarity as the limit allows. And it does all of it on your own device, without sending your documents anywhere.
Common questions
Is my photo uploaded anywhere? Is this safe?
Nothing is uploaded. The resizing runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly, so your photo, signature and any other document stay on your own phone or computer. There is no server holding a copy, no account, and nothing to delete afterwards. You can check this yourself: load the page, turn off your mobile data, and the tool still works.
Why does that matter for exam photos?
You are uploading identity documents — your photograph and your signature. Most free compressors send those to a server you know nothing about, in a country you cannot verify, and their privacy policy decides what happens next. Here the question does not arise, because the file never leaves your device in the first place.
How is this different from other compressors?
Most tools give you a quality slider and leave you guessing which setting lands under 200 KB. This one takes the target size directly and searches for the highest quality that fits, so you get one file that is correct the first time.
My form has a minimum size as well as a maximum. Can it do that?
Yes. Several exam portals reject files that are too small as well as too large. The exam presets include the minimum where the portal enforces one, and the output is padded to meet it.
Does it work with iPhone HEIC photos?
Yes. HEIC files are decoded in the browser and converted to JPG, which is what exam portals accept. Most portals reject HEIC outright, so this conversion is usually necessary.
Why did my image get blurry?
If the target size is very small for the amount of detail in the photo, quality has to drop. The tool always keeps the highest quality that fits your limit. If the result is too soft, try a slightly larger target or crop the photo tighter before compressing.
