Common questions
Why must it be square?
240 × 240 pixels is 3 cm by 3 cm at 200 DPI — exactly square. A phone photo is 4:3 or wider, so resizing it straight to a square squashes the ridge pattern. This tool crops to a square first and only then scales, so the impression keeps its proportions.
I do not have a left thumb.
NABARD says a candidate without a left thumb may use the right thumb for applying. Use the same one consistently through the application.
Mine keeps being called smudged.
Rolling the thumb sideways is the usual cause. Ink it on a stamp pad, press straight down onto unruled white paper, lift straight up, and let it dry fully before scanning at 200 DPI. Then crop tightly using the tool above.
Is this the same as the IBPS thumb impression?
The specification is identical — 240 × 240 pixels at 20–50 KB — as it is at SBI and LIC. If you have already prepared one for another bank at that size, it will satisfy NABARD too, provided it is clear and not smudged.
